Staple foods are crops that are considered “Universal foods”. This means they are accepted in almost very country in the world and easily traded in not only a local market, but can be easily sold for trade.

Not only are they easily tradable, but they are also foods that have the highest amount of uses in terms of “Value added products”. These foods can easily be made into dozens of other types of goods. These crops grow rather well in most climates, are easily producible, and have some of the best profit margins for a farmer looking to make a stable income.
